On Wednesday 15 July, documents for Yabloko’s candidates for the regional Legislative Assembly were submitted to the Kaliningrad Region Electoral Commission. The candidates heading the party’s regional list submitted the documents in person.
It should be noted that at Yabloko’s Сongress in late June, candidate lists were put forward for regional parliaments in four regions, including the Kaliningrad Region. The list comprises 36 candidates put forward as part of 11 regional groups. Three candidates were put forward in single-mandate constituencies.
The region-wide section of Yabloko’s candidate list is headed by:
IVAN BOLSHAKOV, 41, political scientist, Head of the party’s Analytical Centre, member of Yabloko’s Federal Political Committee, the party’s representative on the Central Electoral Commission of Russia; Deputy Chairman of Yabloko in 2019–2023;
ROMAN MOROZOV, 50, lawyer with the Kaliningrad Region Bar Association, member of the Bureau of Kaliningrad Yabloko;
ANTON GENDRIKSON, 48, private entrepreneur, public figure in the Kaliningrad Region.
Political scientist Ivan Bolshakov noted that “In order to safeguard the future, save people’s lives and halt the deterioration of the economic situation, a ceasefire agreement must be concluded as soon as possible. Diplomacy and the normalisation of relations with Europe are essential conditions for the development of a region such as Kaliningrad.”
Bolshakov stressed that Yabloko stood for preserving the unique architectural and natural heritage of Kaliningrad Region. He recalled that the authorities had demolished a historic building dating from 1890 that was part of the Königsberg roller mill complex. This episode clearly demonstrated that the system for identifying and protecting historical monuments in the country was not working properly. The decision to build the so-called “wall of death” on the Curonian Spit showed that the authorities did not value the region’s natural environment and did not understand why people came to the Kaliningrad Region.
“The authorities talk incessantly about the falsification of history, yet it begins with the destruction of cities’ cultural identity and the rejection of centuries-old historical heritage,” Ivan Bolshakov said.
Yabloko’s 2026 election platform is the shortest in the party’s history, comprising just 43 words. The main slogan under which the candidates are running is: “For Peace and Freedom! For a Life Without Fear!”
