The Pskov Regional Court will hear appeals lodged by lawyers representing Yabloko Deputy Chairman Lev Shlosberg — Vladimir Danilov and Vera Kovalchuk — against the ruling of a judge of the Pskov City Court of 27 May, by which she extended the politician’s detention in custody until 21 November.
The hearing will take place on Friday, 5 June at 11:00. Lev Shlosberg will attend via video link. Those wishing to enter the court building will be required to bring a passport, Pskov Yabloko reports.
It should be noted that on 3 December, a third criminal case was opened against Yabloko Deputy Chairman Lev Shlosberg under Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (the so-called “army fake news” provision) in connection with a repost made to a Telegram channel in February 2022. The relevant article was not added to the Criminal Code until March 2022. Lev Shlosberg stated that the date of the alleged “offence” with which he is charged had been falsified in the materials of the third criminal case.
On 8 December, the maximum permissible period of house arrest — six months — under the second criminal case, concerning “repeated discrediting of the army”, was due to expire. No provision exists in law for extending this period. The second and third cases were subsequently consolidated. The politician has entered no guilty plea on any count of the charges against him.
The consolidated criminal case against Lev Shlosberg was received by the Pskov City Court on 22 May.
