The Yabloko Party University to host a lecture by journalist Nadezhda Azhgikhina: ‘Journalists Make the World a Better Place’
Press Release, 2.04.2026

Nadezhda Azhgikhina, journalist, writer and Candidate of Philological Sciences, believes that journalists make the world a better place. In her lecture at the Yabloko Party University, she proposes to discuss, among other things, how to remain an honest journalist and a decent person under any regime.
What were Soviet journalists able to do under conditions of censorship and ideological control?
How did the values of the Thaw help create new forms of dialogue with readers and pave the way for perestroika?
How can one remain an honest journalist and a decent person under any regime?
Whose experience is important to remember today?
Participants in Nadezhda Azhgikhina’s lecture will find answers to these and other questions together with the speaker.
“Russian journalism has, over more than three centuries, accumulated an enormous potential of moral, creative and civic significance. It raised free people in an unfree country. Attention to the experience of the recent past helps us better understand the possibilities of the present day,” Nadezhda Azhgikhina says.
Nadezhda Azhgikhina’s lecture ‘Journalists Make the World a Better Place’ will take place on 13 April at the Yabloko office: 31/2 Pyatnitskaya, Moscow. It begins at 7 pm.
Admission by prior registration.
