The formation of territorial electoral commissions (TECs) in the Sverdlovsk Region for a new five-year term has been completed. The regional branch of the Yabloko Party submitted 12 candidates, of whom ten were approved. All the candidates either hold higher legal education qualifications or have extensive experience working in the electoral system, meaning they are capable not only of preventing electoral violations but also of blocking violations by their fellow electoral commission members.
Yabloko has increased the number of its representatives in the territorial electoral commissions in the region: in the previous territorial electoral commissions of the region the party had eight representatives. In total, there are 65 territorial electoral commissions in the region.
All the new candidates from Yabloko either have legal background or have extensive experience working in the electoral system. All of them have passed the party’s internal selection process, with competition on some territories reaching up to three people per position.
“It is important that we have not only increased our presence in the territorial electoral commissions but have also improved their quality,” Maxim Petlin, Chair of Sverdlovsk Yabloko says. “During this five-year term, the party will be represented exclusively by members and supporters of Yabloko who share our values and actively participate in the life of the party branch.”
It should be noted that the formation of territorial electoral commissions and the inclusion of party representatives in them is an important stage in the regional branch’s preparations for the elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk Region, which will take place in autumn 2026.
