Olga Shnyrova, Director of the Ivanovo Centre for Gender Studies and Yabloko member, has passed away

The Yabloko party announces with deep regret the death of Olga Vadimovna Shnyrova, human rights defender, educator, director of the Ivanovo Centre for Gender Studies, and head of Yabloko’s local branch in Frunzensky District of Ivanovo.
Olga Shnyrova devoted her life to defending women’s rights, developing civil society and promoting the values of equality, humanism and respect for human dignity. Thanks to her efforts, the Ivanovo Centre for Gender Studies became one of the first and most renowned independent projects in Russia dealing with issues of social justice and gender equality.
She was a person of rare principle, kindness and courage, who did not retreat in the face of pressure and injustice. Her work, honesty and fortitude will forever remain an example for all who believe in the necessity of a free, just and humane society.
We express sincere condolences to her family, loved ones, colleagues and all who knew and valued Olga Vadimovna Shnyrova.
Let her memory be eternal.
