Yabloko party Chairman Nikolai Rybakov demanded that the St. Petersburg Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Central Electoral Commission investigate the attack on Yabloko member of a territorial electoral commission Alexander Klyukov, who had boiling water thrown in his face. The victim was hospitalised.
The Yabloko party leader noted that the attacker’s actions may contain signs of a crime under at least three articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: Article 115 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Intentional Infliction of Minor Bodily Harm”, Article 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Beating”, Article 141 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Obstruction of the Exercise of Electoral Rights or the Work of Electoral Commissions”.
It should be noted that boiling water was thrown in the face of Alexander Klyukov, a Yabloko member of Territorial Electoral Commission No. 62 with the right to vote. This happened in the building of the Frunzensky District Administration (St.Petersburg), on 9 September, at five o’clock in the morning.
After the incident, Klyukov caught up with the attacker and saw that it was Vitaly Zholdasov, the head of the Georgievsky municipality and member of the ruling United Russia party.
After this, Klyukov was hospitalised, where he was diagnosed with a first-degree hot water burn of 3% of the skin on his head, neck and torso.
In his appeals, Yabloko Chair Nikolai Rybakov demanded that the St.Petersburg Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Central Electoral Commission investigate the incident and take appropriate measures.
