Today the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation upheld the decision to deny incumbent Yabloko deputy Maxim Kruglov registration in the Moscow City Duma elections.
“The Supreme Court repeated exactly the same thing that the Moscow City Court said, taking up the arguments of the electoral commission. We consider this decision to be politically motivated. We collected six thousand real signatures of Muscovites who live in my constituency. The authorities decided that the new Moscow City Duma should not include any deputies independent of them. In my opinion, this is, firstly, a very unfortunate, and secondly, a dangerous decision for the political system. It is alarming that the authorities do not understand this,” Maxim Kruglov commented.
The deputy mandates of Maxim Kruglov, Sergei Mitrokhin and Yevgeny Bunimovich as part of the Yabloko faction expire in mid-September. Voting for the new composition of the Moscow parliament begins tomorrow and will take place without the participation of candidates advocating peace and freedom.
Maxim Kruglov’s report on his five-year deputy activity has been published on our website.
