Members and supporters of Yabloko will meet at the intersection of Novy Arbat and the Garden Ring on August 21 at 11:45 so that to lay flowers at the monument to “Defenders of Democracy in Russia”.
It should be noted that 33 years ago, the self-proclaimed State Emergency Committee attempted a coup d’etat in Russia. On 19 August, 1991, a state of emergency was declared in the country, and tanks and other military machinery were brought out onto the streets of Moscow. Residents of Moscow came out to protest against the State Emergency Committee, which was overthrown on 22 August. Three young people died during the August coup: Dmitry Komar, Vladimir Usov, and Ilya Krichevsky.
