St. Petersburg branch of Yabloko nominated Olga Yurkevich, a candidate of medical sciences, a doctor of the highest category and pediatric anesthesiologist, a candidate for deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg in the coming by-elections in constituency No 18 of St.Petersburg. Members of the Bureau of the regional branch of the party unanimously voted for the nomination of Olga Yurkevich.

Chairman of the St. Petersburg Yabloko, Alexander Shishlov, notes that Olga Yurkevich’s impressive biography shows how important humanism and the value of human life are to her, which is especially important today. Olga Yurkevich is a candidate member of Yabloko, a party standing for peace and freedom, for a ceasefire agreement, and for the preservation of human lives.

“Olga Yurkevich has been saving the lives of children and adults for over 35 years, and during coronavirus pandemic, Olga Yurkevich went to work in intensive care in the “red zone” of the Mechnikov Northwestern Medical University. We are glad and proud that such decent and courageous people are joining the Yabloko party at present. Voters in the 18th constituency will have the opportunity to elect a professional and courageous deputy standing for peace and freedom,” Alexander Shishlov notes.

Olga Yurkevich was born in Leningrad in 1962. Graduated from the Leningrad Pediatric Medical Institute. Since 1990, she has been working as an anesthesiologist in different medical institutions, including Leningrad City Hospital No. 2, St. Petersburg Children’s Infectious Diseases Hospital, Alexandrovskaya Hospital, and Almazova National Medical Research Centre. Olga Yurkevich is married and has two adult children.

By-elections to the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg will be held on a single voting day, 8 September.
