On 12 June, the General Assembly of the Kaliningrad branch of the Yabloko party nominated lawyer Roman Morozov as a candidate for the post of Governor of the Kaliningrad region. Morozov’s candidacy had been previously approved by the presidium of the Federal Bureau of the party.
Participants in the Assembly discussed issues of regional development and ideas that Yabloko can offer to the Kaliningrad region by nominating its candidate for Governor. Particular attention was paid to the candidate’s position on an immediate ceasefire, his strategy for solving the economic and social problems of the region, as well as the special situation of the region in the military-political context. Morozov emphasised his commitment to the ideals of peace and freedom, and proposed concrete steps to improve the situation in the region.
According to the voting results, Roman Morozov was nominated by a majority of votes as a candidate for the post of Governor of the Kaliningrad region. Morozov thanked his colleagues for their high trust and assured that he would spare no effort to successfully register his candidacy with the regional electoral commission.
Concluding the meeting, the Chairman of the Kaliningrad Yabloko, Alexander Lisovsky, emphasised:
“On Russia’s Independence Day, 12 June, we nominated a candidate for Governor with an independent position – for an immediate ceasefire agreement. A nomination on such a day is a good sign of the start of the candidate’s election campaign. We wish Roman strength and good luck. For our part, we will provide him with all possible support.”
To register for the gubernatorial election of the Kaliningrad region, Roman Morozov needs to go through a municipal filter – collect 30 signatures of municipal deputies in support of his nomination.
The Kaliningrad branch Yabloko asks all the residents of the region to help in the campaign.
