The Russian United Democratic Party Yabloko expresses deep condolences to the families of all residents of the Orenburg region who died in the flood. We express solidarity with all those affected by the disaster.

The Yabloko party considers the disaster occurring in the Orenburg, Kurgan and Chelyabinsk regions to be a national emergency and calls on the Russian government to immediately take all decisions necessary in such cases. We see that the resources of regional authorities and local governments are not enough to resolve urgent emergency problems.

We believe that funding for the activities of all places of temporary residence of people, the costs of their life support, including food and medicine, should be provided from the federal budget.

We believe that compensation for lost housing should also be provided from the federal budget. Federal participation in funding compensations for the families of the victims is necessary.

The Yabloko party also believes that it is necessary to conduct a procedural check of compliance with the law during the design, construction and operation of the protective dam in Orsk. This is important for an impartial assessment of the causes and consequences of the disaster. This check must be carried out not in the come-and-go style or through the appointment of whipping boys.

The supervisory body in the state construction must check the condition of all similar structures in Russia, and based on the results of the check, make proposals to change the standards for the design of protective dams and the safe operation of such structures.

The regional branch of the Yabloko party in the Orenburg region and other regional branches of the party are involved in raising funds and providing direct assistance to flood victims. This work is coordinated and supported by the party leadership.
