The Novgorod Yabloko page on Vkontakte blocked by the decision of the Public Prosecutor General’s Office

On 15 March, the social media Vkontakte blocked the public page of the Novgorod regional branch of the Yabloko party with over 2,000 subscribers by the decision of the Public Prosecutor General’s Office. The last post of the Novgorod Yabloko in the community was published on 14 March, it was an article by Boris Vishnevsky, Deputy Chairman of the party, “We are ready to participate in elections, but not as stooges”.
The leader of the Novgorod Yabloko, Deputy Chair of the party Anna Cherepanova notes that the regional branch will continue to work on social media:
“We will begin to gather our supporters on social media once again and open a new page, and also create a community on Telegram,” Cherepanova commented.
Previously, the VKontakte pages of Anna Cherepanova, Chair of the regional branch of the party and deputy of the Novgorod City Duma, Ksenia Cherepanova, head of the local branch of the party in Novgorod, and Oksana Sergeyeva, deputy of the Yermolinsky rural settlement of the Novgorod region from Yabloko, were blocked by decision of the Public Prosecutor General’s Office
In total, since February 2022, the Public Prosecutor General’s Office have closed 12 pages on the Vkontakte social media, including the pages of deputies of Legislative Assemblies Boris Vishnevsky (St. Petersburg) and Emilia Slabunova (Karelia), Deputy Chairman of the party Lev Shlosberg (Pskov region), members Federal Bureau of the party of Alexander Yefimov (Volgograd Region) and Ruslan Zinatullin (Tatarstan). In addition, access to the website of the Altai regional branch of the party was closed by decision of the Public Prosecutor General’s office.
