“All Quiet on the Western Front”. Film from the Novgorod Yabloko marking two years since the special military operation
Press Release, 24.02.2024
The Novgorod branch of Yabloko released a film devoted to the two years of the special military operation and entitled after Erich Maria Remarque’s “All Quiet on the Western Front”.
“I am young, I am twenty years old; yet I know nothing of life but despair, death, fear, and fatuous superficiality cast over an abyss of sorrow. I see how peoples are set against one another, and in silence, unknowingly, foolishly, obediently, innocently slay one another.”
Unfortunately, one of the main anti-war novels of the 20th century, “All Quiet on the Western Front” by Erich Maria Remarque, has become frighteningly relevant today.
Marking two years since the special military operation our colleagues from the Novgorod Yabloko made a small film where members and supporters of the party read fragments of the famous novel by Erich Maria Remarque. It contains not only a bitter reflection on life during the war, but also an answer to the question what a person should do after it.
