Yaroslav Shcherbakov, Chairman of the Chelyabinsk regional branch of the Yabloko party, appealed to the Governor of the region with a request to solve the problem with the doctors of an infectious disease department and the construction of a children’s hospital in the city of Miass.
In Miass, the only infectious diseases department in the city was closed for two weeks from September 2023 and has not yet opened due to a lack of specialists. Patients are sent for hospitalisation either to Zlatoust or Chelyabinsk. There is no children’s hospital in Miass, except for a small pediatric department with 18 beds. At the same time, more than 161,000 people live in Miass, of which 37,000 are under 18 years of age.
Last year a similar problem with medical personnel was solved in Zlatoust by a special visit by the Governor, the regional Minister of Healthcare and heads of the leading hospitals in the region, activists of the Chelyabinsk Yabloko say. This year such measures are needed in Miass.
In addition, a hospital with 650 beds, which was promised to be built in Zlatoust by 2025, is still in the design stage, the project being behind schedule for over a year and envisages a reduction in beds by 1.5 times.
In its appeal to the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region, signed by the head of the regional branch of the party, Yaroslav Shcherbakov, Yabloko asks to instruct the regional Ministry of Healthcare to resolve the issue of personnel shortages for opening an infectious diseases department of an adult hospital in Miass, and also to consider the issue of building a children’s hospital in the city.
