Yabloko Anti-Corruption Policy Centre announces enrollment of students for an advanced course on anti-corruption policy

The Anti-Corruption Policy Centre of the Yabloko party launches the “Theory and Practice of Anti-Corruption” training course, which will take place from February to June 2024. The course developers are experts from the Yabloko Centre who have experience in anti-corruption investigations and have background in the field of law, public administration and criminal justice. Yabloko party members and supporters, as well as social activists, are invited to participate.
The course covers a wide range of topics, including the fundamentals and ethics of anti-corruption, the principles and limitations of the public service, budgetary policy, public procurement and tenders. Special attention is paid to such complex issues such as nepotism, clientelism, conflicts of interest, illicit enrichment, money laundering, as well as analysis of corruption at different levels, from grassroots to systemic. The course also examines the role of media and civil society in the fight against corruption, as well as successful anti-corruption reforms.
The main course lecturers are:
Alexei Karnaukhov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Policy Centre of Yabloko, Master of Laws (the Higher School of Economics), graduate of the public policy programme at the European University Institute (Florence, Italy), as well as the public administration course at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University (USA). Deputy of the Khamovniki district (Moscow) in 2017-2022.
Alexei Chumakov, Deputy Director of the Yabloko Anti-Corruption Policy Centre, Master of Laws in public law (the Higher School of Economics), Mater of Laws in Criminal Justice and International Crime (University of Glasgow, UK), Master of Organisational Studies (University of Malmö, Sweden). Other Yabloko speakers, researchers from leading specialised universities, companies and non-profit organisations will also be invited to deliver lectures.

Participation in the course is free and based on competitive selection. Classes will be held during non-working hours. To be admitted, one should fill out an application and write an essay. Essays will be checked for plagiarism. Copying responses from artificial intelligence chatbots is not encouraged.
Preference will be given to candidates with higher education, as well as students of universities and colleges specializing in economics, law, political science or related fields. The essay requires clarity, competent and consistent presentation of thoughts, the ability to work with scientific and journalistic literature, and creative analytical conclusions.
Candidates must be motivated and share the values of democracy, human rights, the rule of law and pacifism. The required age is 18+, but exceptions can be made on an individual basis for high-level work. Knowledge of English is desirable.
Classes will be held once a week. Applications are accepted until 25 December, 2023. Notifications of selection results will be sent by 25 January, 2024.
