A charity warehouse for the needy with clothes, shoes, household goods, medicines for those in need (fire victims, large families, people with disabilities) and animals has opened in the office of the Bashkirian branch Yabloko in Ufa. Yabloko supporters, party members and all caring citizens bring their no longer needed items, and volunteers sort them into categories. Then activists from charitable foundations take away things for the needy. Once a week, the Yabloko party volunteers deliver the remaining items by cars to small foundations that are open only on certain days.

Chair of the Bashkirian branch of Yabloko, Kristina Abramicheva, notes that Yabloko cooperates with private charitable initiatives and volunteers, that are well-known in Yabloko and trusted.

“In Ufa there is a constant need for such small targeted aid, and activists are doing it: they collect donations through their social networks and use this money to rent premises for warehouses and even shelter apartments for people in difficult life situations. People are ready to donate things. When we help in the transfer of things from one person to another, we perform a very environmentally friendly action: after all, we do not have, for example, points for the collection and processing of textiles, but the population accumulates a lot of clothes they do not wear! So much clothes is accumulated by the population that large warehouses, such as the Red Cross, from time to time cannot cope with this flow and stop accepting things. As a result, the clothes end up in the trash, and then rot and burn for years in landfills… Therefore, small public initiatives represent good targeted aid for different categories of people in need, and our regional department is able to provide it on a regular basis,” Kristina Abramicheva says.

In November, the Bashkirian branch of Yabloko is planning a large-scale action in its office, which will allow to accept a large number of items for charity at once.
