Today, the Federation Council unanimously adopted another anti-human law, for which the Duma had unanimously voted before – a law banning gender reassignment.
Deputies and senators have found the most important problem in the country that requires their intervention – an exceptionally rare problem of “gender mismatch”. Even in conditions of armed conflict, the main enemy for our state are its citizens.
The adopted law is another attempt by the state to “recoup” for its failures on those who definitely will not fight back. There is no other sense in this law. We believe that transgender people do not pose any social danger. The right to change sex and receive hormonal therapy does not violate the rights of other citizens, does not interfere with or harm anyone.
Instead of helping such people suffering from social and medical problems, the state unleashes all the available power of its repressive machine on them.
The new law, once again presented as “protecting traditional values”, has nothing to do with these values: the ruining of the lives of thousands of people is not a defence, but a vile attack, not the preservation of values, but the inculcation of hatred. This law must be repealed.
