“We have brought flowers from Yabloko to the Alexander Garden in Moscow – in memory of the fallen – heroes and just people, not heroes, men and women, children and the elderly. These are flowers for the unlearned lessons of war. And the main unlearned lesson – the war should never happen again. And these are the flowers of hope for the world,” Nikolai Rybakov noted.

“The Battle of Stalingrad for the residents of Volgograd remains a key event in the history of the city – a meeting point for all Volgograd residents. Eighty years have passed, but everyone who lives here remembers the greatest feat and the greatest tragedy that claimed hundreds of thousands of lives of our ancestors,” Alexander Yefimov commented.
The Battle of Stalingrad lasted 200 days and nights, from 17 July, 1942, to February 2, 1943. The largest battle of the Second World War at that time surpassed all the battles of world history in terms of the duration and fierceness of the battles, as well as in terms of the number of people and military equipment participating.
