The website of Lev Shlosberg and the page of Emilia Slabunova on a social network Vkontakte were blocked on the order of the Public Prosecutor General’s Office

On 27 March, the social network VKontakte blocked (https://vk.com/id15847921 ) the page of Emilia Slabunova, tMP of the Legislative Assembly of Karelia, a member of the Federal Political Committee of the Yabloko party and a former Chairperson of Yabloko. The next day, Roskomnadzor (the supervision agency in the field of mass media and IT) blocked access to the website (http://shlosberg.ru/ ) of Lev Shlosberg, another member of the Federal Political Committee of the Yabloko party and the leader of the Pskov branch of Yabloko. In both cases, the Public Prosecutor General’s Office initiated the blocking.

Emilia Slabunova’s page was blocked without any warning or explanation. Only the number of the corresponding order of the Public Prosecutor General’s Office, dated 25 March, 2022, is known.

Slabunova sent a request to the administration of the social network, and Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov appealed to the Public Prosecutor General’s Office with a demand to revoke the decision on blocking and restore access to the page.

“Well, now there seems to be no obstacles to solving all the problems in Karelia, Russia and solving the tasks of the “special operation”,” Slabunova wrote sarcastically in her Telegram channel (https://t.me/Slabunova/523 ). “I consider this step to be an obstacle to my activities as a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia, a violation of my personal constitutional rights, the rights of my voters and citizens of the country! I demand that the Public Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation comply with the Constitution and laws of the Russian Federation!” Slabunova noted.

Vkontakte is the most popular social network in Karelia. On her page, Emilia Slabunova wrote a lot about her work as an MP in the Republic of Karelia.

On 28 March, Roskomnadzor restricted access to the personal website of Lev Shlosberg, leader of the Pskov branch of Yabloko. On Monday night, the politician received a notification from the hosting company, which also contained a link to the document (an order of the Public Prosecutor General’s Office dated March 26, 2022), however, they did not indicate any specific publications on the website that provoked such a reaction.

Lev Shlosberg decided to remove all publications from the website for a certain period, and informed Roskomnadzor of it. “The requirements of Roskomnadzor were met by us on time, and we hope for a speedy resolution of the situation,” Lev Shlosberg wrote in his Telegram channel (https://t.me/shlosberg/6502 ).

The Yabloko party sent appeals to the Public Prosecutor General’s Office and Roskomnadzor demanding that the blocking be lifted.
