Territorial Electoral Commission No. 18 finally registered Yabloko’s Ksenia Mikhailova in the elections to the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg. The electoral commission had to register Mikhailova after two refusals: 11 members of the commission out of 12 present voted for the registration. Soon Ksenia Mikhailova will receive a certificate of a candidate for deputies of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg in single-mandate constituency No. 3 (Petrogradskiy district) from the Yabloko party.

It should be noted that on 31 July, Territorial Electoral Commission No. 18 refused to register Mikhailova for the elections to the Legislative Assembly of St.Petersburg. The reason for the refusal was that Mikhailova allegedly did not submit to the electoral commission a certificate on the expenses of her minor children. However, a full set of documents with the certificate in question was submitted to the commission on 22 July.

On getting a refusal in registration from the electoral commission, Ksenia Mikhailova decided to submit documents to the electoral commission once again for registration as a candidate to the Legislative Assembly. However, again the working group of Territorial Electoral Commission No. 18 refused to accept the new package of documents justifying it by the fact that this time Mikhailova did not provide the Yabloko party’s decision “on her re-nomination as candidate”.

On 24 August, the city court ruled that the working group’s refusal to accept documents was unlawful and ordered the electoral commission to re-consider the issue of registering Mikhailova for the elections.
