The Tambov Regional Court refused the administrative plaintiff from the Russian Party of Freedom and Justice to cancel the registration of Vladimir Zhilkin, a Yabloko candidate for the State Duma in single-mandate constituency No. 177.

The Oktyabrsky District Court of the city of Saratov overturned the decision of District Electoral Commission No. 30 on the refusal to register Ksenia Sverdlova, Chair of the Saratov branch of Yabloko, as a candidate for the City Duma of Saratov. The the court decision of August 12 runs that the District Electoral Commission is obliged to register the leader of the Saratov branch of Yabloko as a candidate in the elections.

The court in Kazan recognised Yelena Izotova, Chair of the Yabloko Green Russia faction in Tatarstan and a Yabloko candidate for the State Duma, involved in the “extremist” organization. Thus Izotova will now face removal from elections
According to Izotova, the court session took place in her absence.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Vakhitovsky district of Kazan appealed to the court with a demand to recognise Ruslan Zinatullin, Chairman of the Tatarstan branch of Yabloko, the leader of the regional list of Yabloko candidates in the elections of the State Duma and the Yabloko candidate in single-mandate constituency No. 31, as the one involved in the activities of the “extremist organization” Alexei Navalny Headquarters. The court session is scheduled for 20 August.

On 13 August, the farewell ceremony for Sergei Kovalev, a legendary human rights activist and a member of the Yabloko party, took place in the Sakharov Centre in Moscow.

The Chairman of the Yabloko party, Nikolai Rybakov, will visit the cities of the Novgorod region on 15 August, 2021, as part of his election tour.
In Novgorod Rybakov will meet with residents of the city and journalists and visit iconic places of the city. Then the head of the party will go to the town of Okulovka, where he will meet with activists and local deputies of the party, as well as meet with local residents in the central streets of the city.

Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov will visit four cities of the Leningrad Region on 14 August, 2021, within the framework of his election tour.
The first city of the visit will be Vyborg. Here the party leader will meet with local residents and also discuss with them the problem of sewage flowing into the Vyborg Bay.

The panel of judges of the Saratov Regional Court rejected the appeal of the Saratov administration, which challenged the victory of the Saratov branch of Yabloko in the Volzhsky District Court on two administrative claims after the administration’s unjustified refusal to give a permission for public events as part of Yabloko’s State Duma election campaign.

The Yabloko campaign bus set off for a race along the Golden Ring of Russia and small towns in the regions adjacent to Moscow.
In five days, Yabloko’s campaign activists will visit 16 cities in the Moscow region, the Yaroslavl region, the Kostroma region, the Ivanovo region and the Vladimir region.
The Yabloko campaign bus makes stops in crowded places in the cities and towns, and there for several hours the party activists distribute Yabloko booklets with election programme.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kazan, Tatarstn, appealed to the Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan with a claim asking to establish the involvement of Yelena Izotova, head of Yabloko’s Green Russia faction in Tatarstan and a candidate for the State Duma from Yabloko in the regional group No. 49, as well as in the Moskovsky single-mandate district, in the social movement “Navalny’s headquarters”, whose activities were recognised as extremist and banned on the territory of the Russian Federation. If on August 13 the court satisfies the claim of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Yelena Izotova will lose her registration in the elections.

BURYATIA, THE IRKUTSK REGION
The shore of Lake Baikal
Yesterday was my final working day in Eastern Siberia.

When I was going to Lake Baikal, I was convinced that the situation with the garbage on the shore had changed and garbage was no longer there. Unfortunately, it had not changed. Therefore, before leaving Baikalsk for Buryatia, together with Grigory Gribenko and colleagues from the Irkutsk branch of Yabloko, we held a clean-up of the shore. The main garbage – as usual left by tourists – is plastic bottles and packaging, glass, disposable dishes, cans, and food leftovers. We sorted the garbage into fractions to be recycled, which was done later in Ulan-Ude.

In the morning Anna Shlomina, our candidate for the State Duma elections, the founder of the public organisation for the protection of animals “ZooZabota”, showed me the Centre for sterilisation of pets, which works in the city at discounted prices. The main problem is the lack of drugs that are required to perform operations and treat animals. Sometimes they can only be obtained in Moscow and then sent to Irkutsk. Not only people but also animals suffer from sanctions and bans on the imports of foreign medicines. I wanted to write “four-legged”, but deleted it. Because after the clinic, Anna and I went to a shelter for homeless animals.

Eleven members of the electoral commission voted for registration, and one abstained. The territorial electoral commission did not have any new complaints about the documents submitted for the registration by Boris Vishnevsky, Deputy Chairman of the Yabloko party.
Today the St. Petersburg Electoral Commission overturned the decision of Territorial Electoral Commission No 30 to deny registration to Boris Vishnevsky. In connection with this, the Territorial Electoral Commission had to hold a new meeting on the registration of Boris Vishnevsky as a candidate for the election of deputies to the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg in single-mandate constituency No 2 (the Central District).

On 4 August, an explosion occurred on the porch of the municipal council of the Smolninskoye municipality in St.Petersburg. The explosion happened during the council meeting. According to a number of media, Georgy Sklyadnev, an employee of the Smolninskoe municipal administration, told the Centre for Combating Extremism that this explosion was arranged by order of Grigory Rankov, the current head of the municipality.

The nature of the region starts brining you joy already on the approach to the Dmitry Hvorostovsky airport. Endless taiga, hills, and the great Yenisei river. At the same time, it is hard to breathe in Krasnoyarsk – because of the large number of enterprises (primarily the KrAZ-Rusal aluminum plant) and road transport. All this is combined with the location of the city in a basin and high humidity from the Yenisei, which, after the construction of the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station, stopped freezing [in winter] (a separate natural disaster). Aa additional load is brought by a combination of high-rise buildings and low-rise buildings (a specifics of the city construction), and coal and stove heating.

The St. Petersburg City Court found no grounds for canceling the decision on registration of Viktor Boldin, the candidate to the Legislative Assembly from the Yabloko party in the single-mandate constituency No. 14 (Kalininsky District). The claim was filed by Alexei Zinchuk, the candidate from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and Yabloko candidate’s rival. Zinchuk said that he was not going to appeal the decision of the City Court.

As part of the visit of the Yabloko leader Nikolai Rybakov to the Irkutsk region and the Republic of Buryatia on August 9, 2021, within the framework of his election campaign tour, Yabloko cleaned the shore of Lake Baikal in the city of Baikalsk, Irkutsk region. Nikolai Rybakov, together with Grigory Gribenko, Chairman of the Irkutsk regional branch of the party, and Yabloko activists, cleaned up a part of the Baikal shore from garbage in the town of Baikalsk, Irkutsk region.
