St. Petersburg Yabloko elected new leadership of the branch

On 28 September, the St. Petersburg regional branch of the Yabloko party elected the governing bodies of the branch for the next two years. Olga Tsepilova, who previously held the position of a Deputy Chairperson, became the Chairperson of the regional branch (in 2022-2024, the branch was headed by Alexander Shishlov, who proposed to elect Olga Tsepilova to this post). Dmitry Anisimov, Yegor Karpenkov, Alexander Kobrinsky, and Ilya Kiselyov were elected as Deputy Chairs. This time the leaders of the St. Petersburg branch are noticeably younger. The average age of the previous composition was 70 years old, and now it is 44.

Yabloko raised 1.7 million roubles at an auction in support of political prisoners and continues to accept donations

The auction featured 28 lots: works of art and personal belongings of politicians, political prisoners, writers, publicists and journalists, musicians, artists, etc. The most expensive lots of the auction were a drawing by Alexandra Skochilenko, ex-political prisoner who has been recently exchanged, a painting by the famous artist Alexei Rychkov – a gift to Grigory Yavlinsky, a bottle of 100-year-old cognac, a gift from the Yabloko politician Sergei Ivanenko to Sergei Mitrokhin, a statuette of musician Yuri Shevchuk and a disc with the new album of the DDT group, and manuscripts by Ekaterina Shulman. The total amount raised was 1.712 million rubles.

The deadline for accepting documents from candidates for the post of Human Rights Commissioner in the Republic of Karelia has been closed. The Yabloko party faction in the Legislative Assembly of Karelia nominated Olga Tuzhikova, a member of Yabloko, a deputy of the Petrozavodsk City Council, lawyer and environmentalist, for the post. The Yabloko member’s candidacy was supported by the head of the Loukhsky municipal district Olga Kvyatkevich, the environmental organisation SPOK, the Veterans of Karelia organisation, the public organisations for the protection of citizens’ rights Soglasie and Zaonezhye, as well as the Green Alternative party and the Dobrospas search and rescue squad. The media noted that no other candidate for the post of Human Rights Commissioner in Karelia had such broad support in the entire existence of this post.

A round table dedicated to the anniversary of the beginning of World War I was held in Yabloko with the participation of Russian historians Vladimir Buldakov, Vladislav Aksyonov, Boris Kolonitsky, Konstantin Morozov and Alexander Shubin, as well as politicians from the Yabloko party Nikolai Rybakov, Grigory Yavlinsky and Sergei Mitrokhin. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Galina Mikhaleva, professor of the Russian State University for the Humanities. Historians and politicians talked about the causes and inevitability of the beginning of the war, its tragic consequences for Russia, and also drew obvious parallels with today’s developments in the country and the world.
