Lev Shlosberg has been placed under house arrest as part of a criminal case concerning “repeated discrediting of the army”

The investigation insisted on such a preventive measure for the Deputy Chairman of the Yabloko party during a court hearing at Pskov City Court today. The judge also closed the hearing at the request of the investigator and public prosecutor. The preventive measure has been imposed until 8 August. At court, Lev Shlosberg was supported by Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov.
Lev Shlosberg was arrested on 10 June, after a search in the his and his wife Zhanna’s apartment. Police also searched the apartment of the politician’s 96-year-old father Mark Shlosberg and the office of the Pskov Yabloko. All computer equipment was seized.
Lev Shlosberg is a suspect in a criminal case of “repeated discrediting of the army” (Article 280.3, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) due to his debate with historian Yuri Pivovarov, in which the Shlosberg defended the need for a ceasefire as soon as possible.
