The so-called “inspection of the premises” in Roman Morozov’s apartment was conducted by decision of the Chairman of the Regional Court. The ruling, which Morozov was given to read, stated that he was a “partner” of lawyer Maria Bontsler. According to the ruling, Bontsler was “suspected” of treason. Roman Morozov and Maria Bontsler were lawyers for Kaliningrad political prisoner Igor Baryshnikov.
The “inspection of the premises” was conducted by several Federal Security Service officers in the presence of Morozov’s lawyer and a representative of the Bar Association. Morozov’s phone and hard drives from his home computer were seized.
According to Roman Morozov, after the search, the investigator asked the lawyer about his involvement in the activities of the Memorial human rights society.
Roman Morozov is currently preparing a petition to the regional court about the unlawful “inspection of the premises” and the violation of attorney-client privilege.
In the summer of 2024, Roman Morozov ran an election campaign for the post Governor of the Kaliningrad region from the Yabloko party under the slogan “For Peace and Freedom! For the ceasefire agreement!”
