Electoral commission registers Yabloko’s list of candidates for the Kaliningrad Region Legislative Assembly

The Kaliningrad Region Electoral Commission has registered the list of candidates nominated by Yabloko in the single electoral district for the 8th convocation of the Kaliningrad Region Legislative Assembly.
The registered list comprises 32 people. Its region-wide part is headed by:
– Ivan Bolshakov, political scientist, Head of the Analytical Centre of the party, member of the Federal Political Committee of Yabloko, and the party’s representative at the Central Electoral Commission of Russia; Deputy Chairman of Yabloko from 2019 to 2023;
– Roman Morozov, a lawyer of the Kaliningrad Region Bar Association, and member of the Bureau of Kaliningrad Yabloko;
– Anton Gendrikson, an individual entrepreneur and public figure in the Kaliningrad region.
It should be noted that Anton Gendrikson was detained on 23 July and arrested that same day on charges of allegedly “displaying extremist symbols.” The pretext for the prosecution was the “distribution” of logos of social networks banned in Russia. Anton Gendrikson served ten days of administrative detention and is appealing the charge in court.
In 2026, Yabloko is contesting the legislative assembly elections in nine Russian regions: St. Petersburg, the Republic of Karelia, and the Pskov, Sverdlovsk, Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Leningrad, Moscow and Tomsk regions. The party has also nominated candidates in single-mandate constituencies in the Lipetsk region and the Altai Territory.
Yabloko’s candidate lists had earlier been registered for the elections in Karelia and the Novgorod region. In Karelia, the registered list was subsequently removed from the elections following a lawsuit brought by the Rodina party; Yabloko is appealing this decision at the Second Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction. In St. Petersburg, the electoral commission refused to register the candidate list, and the party is appealing this refusal at the St. Petersburg City Court.
