The Yabloko Party University will host a lecture by biologist and ecologist Askhat Kayumov “Environmental Activities in Cities”

On 21 April, the course “Ecology and Environmental Protection” starts at the Yabloko Party University. The first lecture will be given by biologist and ecologist Askhat Kayumov. He will talk about environmental activities in cities: what can be done in modern conditions.
Everyone talk a lot about environmental problems at present. But what should we do to protect the environment? It is precisely what even the least prepared person can do to make the world around them more environmentally friendly, and that will be discussed at Askhat Kayumov’s lecture “Environmental Activities in Cities. What Can Be Done in Modern Conditions”. The lecutuer will speak about how to protect public gardens and parks, what to do with landfills, what birdhouses are for, and much more.
Askhat Kayumov has been involved in environmental problems in the Nizhny Novgorod region since 1980. In December 1989, he created the regional environmental center Dront. In April 1993, at the suggestion of the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Boris Nemtsov, he organised and until April 1998 headed the Department for Nature Conservation and Environmental Management in the regional administration. He is a co-author of the development programme for protected areas in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Askhat Kayumov is also Co-Chairman of the Social-Ecological Union and an honorary worker of nature conservation of the Russian Federation.
The lecture will take place at the office of the Yabloko party at the address (Moscow, Pyatnitskaya 31, building 2) on April 21 starting at 19:00.
