Yabloko to host Sergei Mitrokhin’s lecture on organization of civil society

On 17 April, Yabloko will host a lecture by the second Chairman of Yabloko Sergei Mitrokhin on “Organisation of Civil Society in Counteracting the Merger of Business and Power”. Sergei Mitrokhin will explain how the oligarchic system affects the rights of Moscow residents and will demonstrate through specific examples how to assist citizens in opposing this system.
Sergei Mitrokhin is a member of the Yabloko Party’s Political Committee, a former deputy of the State Duma for three terms and a former deputy of the Moscow City Duma for two terms. He holds a PhD in Political Science.
In the State Duma, Mitrokhin worked on the preparation of 82 current laws addressing the issues of protection of citizens’ rights, state building, housing and utilities services, local self-governing, fighting corruption and official privileges, national security, and protection of environment.
In the Moscow City Duma, he focused on protecting citizens’ rights from the arbitrariness of officials and large companies, opposed the seizure of public lands, infill development projects and cutting down of green areas, and fought against the destruction of historical buildings in Moscow.
Sergei Mitrokhin continues his work on protection of the interests of Moscow residents against the authorities and businesses even without holding a deputy status.
The meeting with Sergei Mitrokhin will take place at the Yabloko office (Pyatnitskaya 31, building 2) on April 17 at 19:00.
