On 20 January, the leaders and activists of the Yabloko party will lay flowers at the site of the murder of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova at 3 Prechistenka Street in Moscow.
Stanislav Markelov and Anastasia Baburova were shot by neo-Nazis from the Combat Organization of Russian Nationalists on 19 January, 2009.
Kirill Goncharov, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow branch of Yabloko said that every year Yabloko commemorates the memory of the journalist and the lawyer – the victims of this brutal murder that took place in the very centre of Moscow and was motivated by political intolerance and hatred. “Now it is very important to remember this crime, when nationalism and xenophobia are once again raising their heads gaining increasingly more confidence in our state. The murder of Stanislav and Anastasia is a tragic example of how such sentiments end,” Goncharov commented.
We will be waiting for the participants of the action by the Kropotkinskaya metro station at 19:00.
