A charity poetry event will be held in Chelyabinsk. Registration of participants is open
Press Release, 31.08.2023
The Chelyabinsk branch of Yabloko and the public project TyNeOdin74 (YouAreNotAlone74) will hold a charity poetry party.
We will reсite the poems of people who were repressed – in memory of them and in support of those who have been and are being subjected to political persecution now.
We do not draw parallels. To argue about their correctness or incorrectness is the task of historians and political scientists. Although historical allusions do arise. The goals of the poetry event are as follows:
– remind of the fate of people whose lives were destroyed in the Soviet Union due to belonging to an “alien class”, criticism of the authorities, the inadmissible ability to think, write and speak differently;
– remind that repression is not just a line about Stalin’s repressions in a history book, which is getting shorter every year. These are fates of real people.
– help those residents of the Southern Urals against whom criminal or administrative cases were initiated for political reasons.
Donations can be made at the event. All funds raised will be used to pay the fine(s) for “discrediting the army”, as well as legal expenses of the families of political prisoners. The list of recipients of the fundraising will be published later.
The organisers of the Poetry Event are the Chelyabinsk regional branch of the Yabloko party and the public project TyNeOdin74 (YouAreNotAlone74).
When: October 6, 18:30
Where: DB Spiridonov, office 707.
Those who would like recite poetry at the event have to register using the link before 15 September.
