Olga Vshivkova, a candidate from the Perm branch of Yabloko, won the election of deputies of the Duma of the Kungur Municipal District of the 1st convocation in the two-mandate constituency. Vshivkova, nominated by Yabloko, gained more than 35% of the votes, ahead of the candidate from the pro-government’s United Russia party and the current deputy by only four vote. The second candidate from the Yabloko party in the same district, environmental activist and journalist Yekaterina Burylova, came fourth.
Olga Vshivkova is a Yabloko party supporter and Chair of the “Kungur, the Territory of Goodness” charitable foundation.
“Members of the Yabloko party from Perm, Krasnokamsk, and Yekaterinburg, as well as activists and volunteers from Kungur took an active part in the campaign. There were developed algorithms of communication between Yabloko members of precinct electoral commissions and the territorial electoral commission, as well as observers during a three-day voting, ” Olga Kolokolova, Chair of the Perm branch of Yabloko, said.
“I had to fight off the complaints of the counterparts-opponents in the territorial electoral commission, the police and even in court. Despite the fact that all the three days the candidates from the United Russia party conducted unlawful campaigning and organised a carousel lottery, our observers and members of the territorial electoral commission and precinct electoral commissions performed excellently,” the leader of the Yabloko regional office added.
Elections of deputies of the Duma of the Kungur Municipal District of the 1st convocation were held in the Perm Territory from April 9 to April 11, 2021. The Kungur Municipal District was created in November 2020. At a meeting of the Kungur City Duma, the deputies of the Duma voted for the merger of the city of Kungur and the Kungur Municipal District. Later, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Perm Territory adopted the draft law on the merger of the city of Kungur and the settlements of the Kungur Municipal District into a single municipal district. 85 candidates applied for 27 vacant seats of the Duma deputies of the Kungur Municipal District.
