Emilia Slabunova, a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia from the Yabloko party, was able to find out which posts on her personal page on the VKontakte social media caused blocking of her page by the decision of the Public Prosecutor General’s Office. The first post was the official data on the death in Ukraine of the first serviceman from Karelia with a quote from President Putin. The second was a repost of an interview with Valentina Melnikova, Executive Secretary of the Union of Committees of Soldiers’ Mothers.

The Dorogomilovsky District Court of Moscow fined Igor Yakovlev, head of the Press Service of the Yabloko party, 15,000 roubles on charges of participating in an anti-war action, during which Yakovlev and his wife were at a performance in the theater.
On the evening of 28 February, the police detained Igor Yakovlev and his wife Tatyana Talankina at the Tverskaya metro station in Moscow when they were returning from a performance at the Pushkin Theatre.

Vasily Dikaryev is accused of reposting, in 2014, a person whose avatar featured one of the protagonists of Schindler’s List. Judge of the Tagansky District Court of Moscow returned to the police an administrative case against Vasily Dikaryev, a Moscow municipal deputy from the Yabloko party.

On 14 October, Anatoly Nogovitsyn, leader of the Yabloko branch in Yakutia, underwent a forensic psychiatric examination, which an investigator of the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), appointed him as part of a criminal case under Article 280.3 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the armed forces of the Russian Federation”). The results have not yet been released. During the examination, they tried to provoke Anatoly Nogovitsyn to statements that could be used against him. Nogovitsyn fears that punitive psychiatric measures will be used against him.

The central office of the Yabloko party in Moscow hosted a screening of the film “My Duty to Not Stay Silent” by imprisoned journalist and politician Vladimir Kara-Murza. The film is about priest Georgy Edelstein. Before the screening, Kara-Murza’s lawyer Vadim Prokhorov, Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov and Yabloko founder Grigory Yavlinsky spoke to the participants of the event. Unidentified masked and hooded young men attempted to disrupt the screening of the film: they burst into the hall shouting “Kara-Murza is a traitor to the motherland!”. The hooligans were driven out of the hall.

On 10 October, an investigator of the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) appointed a forensic psychiatric examination for Anatoly Nogovitsyn, Chairman of the Yakutsk branch of Yabloko. “I regard today’s decision as legally unfounded, unlawful and politically motivated.” This is how Alexander Shishlov, head of the Yabloko faction in the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg and Chairman of the St. Petersburg branch of Yabloko, assessed the decision of the Petrogradsky District Court, which found him guilty of an administrative offense under Article 20.3.3 (Public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces) and fined him 35,000 roubles.

On 5 October, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Belgorod held a hearing in the case on the administrative offence of Ilya Kostyukov, a member of the Yabloko party. The civil activist was accused of calling for participation in a rally without permission of the authorities. Kostyukov denies his guilt.

On 6 October, a court in Novosibirsk found Svetlana Sannikova, a civil activist and supporter of the Yabloko party, guilty of violating public order due to the “mass simultaneous stay of citizens”. The fine under Article 20.2.2 Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses amounted to 12,000 roubles. Svetlana as an employee of the Siberian State University of Communications was also called in for a “conversation” at work.

Svetlana Gannushkina, a human rights defender and a member of the Yabloko Federal Political Committee, has become a winner of the Anna Politkovskaya Prize awarded by the international organisation Reach All Women in WAR (RAW in WAR).
The prize is awarded to women defenders of human rights in wars and conflicts. Together with the Gannushkina, the Prize was awarded to Tatyana Sokolova, a midwife from Mariupol, Ukraine.

On 5 October, the launch of the second volume of the book “The Place of Memory Sandarmokh” by imprisoned historian and human rights defender Yuri Dmitriev took place at the office of the Yabloko party in Moscow. The second volume of Yuri Dmitriev’s book “The Place of Memory Sandarmokh” includes essays and memories of victims of Stalin’s repressions of 1937 – 1938 who were shot and buried in mass graves in Sandarmokh, Karelia, documents on executions, photos of memorials, as well as the names of Sandarmokh victims. Sandarmokh is one of the largest places with mass graves of Stalin’s victims in Russia. Yuri Dmitriev has been imprisoned since 2016. In 2020, he was convicted and sentenced to 13 years in prison. In December 2021, the period of his imprisonment was extended to 15 years. Russian historians, human rights activists, lawyers and other independent observers consider the Dmitriev case to be politically motivated.

On 11 October, the Yabloko party will host a screening of a Vladimir Kara-Murza film “My Duty to Not Stay Silent” about priest Georgy Edelstein. The screening will be held at the Yabloko office in Moscow starting at 18:30.
“If we stay silent, we participate in the evil that is happening in our world. I must say what I think.” Georgy Edelstein always adhered to this principle: both in his former, secular life, and during the years of his church service. A man of amazing fate, as complex as the century in which he had to live. A non-Soviet person in Soviet society. A defender of freedom who rejects the title of dissident; a village priest in Russia who was restored to his parish by President Reagan and whose son would become an Israeli statesman. A man who has been always telling the truth – about the state persecuting for the faith, and about the church hierarchs who participated in this. “My duty is not to stay silent. Silence, I am convinced of it, betrays God.”

The Yabloko faction in the St.Petersburg parliament on the plans of the authorities to regulate performances of street musicians

The Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg considered the initiative of Governor Alexander Beglov on the regulation of performances by street musicians. The Governor proposed that street performers must submit a notice to the executive authorities and receive approval from officials to hold their street concerts.
