Past week, the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky City Court found Vladimir Yefimov, journalist and Chairman of the Kamchatka branch of Yabloko, guilty of “discrediting the army” (Article 280.3, Part 1, of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The court imposed a fine of 200,000 roubles on the journalist and also banned him accessing the Internet for two years. The decision has not yet entered into force. Now Vladimir Yefimov needs help to cover the services of a lawyer. Yabloko launches a fundraising campaign to collect of 80,000 roubles.

The Rostov-on-Don branch of Yabloko held another charity event for refugees from Ukraine, including children

The Rostov-on-Don branch of the Yabloko party, together with the Rostov Pomogayet Foundation (Rostov Helps) and the Shamaika restaurant, held another charity event called Yabloko’s Pie (“yabloko” means “apple” in Russian). On Sunday, 2 April, little cooks and their parents, refugees from Ukraine, baked pies together with Yabloko activists. They have prepared more than 20 pies under the guidance of the restaurant chefs, some of the pie will go to their families. Another part of the pies will be given to the other families of refugees who came to the Rostov region from Ukraine.

The new collections of prose are “News of the Feminine”, “Girl on the Ball, or Dreams of Childhood” (the Russian Writers’ Union) and Nadezhda Azhgikhina’s book “Dreams” (AIRO-XXI). The anchors will be Svetlana Vasilenko, the First Secretary of the Russian Writers’ Union, and Nadezhda Azhgikhina, Director of PEN Moscow.

On 31 March, Vladimir Yefimov, a journalist and the leader of the regional branch of Yabloko, will make his las statement at the trial over him in the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky City Court. The verdict can be pronounced on the same day.
Vladimir Yefimov is accused of “discrediting the army” (Article 280.3, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) for publications on social media. Earlier, the journalist was under pressure from the security forces for his pacifist position and was fined 30,000 roubles twice in administrative cases on “discrediting the army”.

On 24 March, a meeting of the Federal Political Committee of Yabloko, a collegial governing body that formulates the party’s position on major political issues between congresses, took place at the central office of Yabloko in Moscow.

Yabloko’s Anatoly Nogovitsyn fined 200,000 roubles for “discrediting the army”

On 21 March, the Yakutsk City Court found Anatoly Nogovitsyn, the leader of the Yabloko branch in Yakutia, guilty of “discrediting the army” (Article 280.3, Part 1, of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and imposed on him a fine of 280,000 roubles, which was reduced to 200,000 roubles due to the prohibition of certain actions imposed on Nogovitsyn since September 2022. In addition, until the court’s decision enters into force, Nogovitsyn is banned from leaving Russia and is required “proper behavior”. The politician intends to appeal the verdict, as he does not consider himself guilty.

Roman Plugin, head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, said that the paintings by the artist Yelena Osipova, seized from the exhibition “PEACEful Art Protest” in the Yabloko office in February, would be returned in early May. This was stated in his response to a question from Boris Vishnevsky, MP of the St.Petersburg Legislative Assembly, at a meeting of the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, 28 March.
