On the night of June 22, OMON (the riot police) and private security guards moped up the office of the “For Human Rights” movement in the centre of Moscow. The reason for the eviction of the human rights organisation was allegedly expiration of the rent agreement and unwillingness of the premises owner to lease it to civil activists in the perspective. According to the eyewitnesses, the assault of the office was accompanied by beatings of people and numerous violations: the police did not allow Russian Ombudsman Vladimir Lukin to enter the office.

Today the Conference of the Moscow Region branch of YABLOKO nominated ex MP Gennady Gudkov (expelled from the Just Russia faction for his oppositional activities) to run for Governor of the Moscow Region: 35 delegates out of 40 voted for Gudkov, and one ballot was recognised invalid.

Upd 22:10 Police is holding Sergei Mitrokhin, Lev Ponomaryov, MP Iliya Ponomaryov and a representative of Russia’s Ombudsman in the office.
YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin has arrived to the office of the “For Human Rights” movement (Maliy Kislovsky lane 7, Moscow). Despite the fact that the entrance to the building has been blocked by private security guards, Mitrokhin managed to enter and meet with the leader of the movement Lev Ponomaryov.
Moscow, 22:10. For the past five hours YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin has been in the office of the “For Human Rights” movement. The Moscow authorities are evicting the human rights organisation from its premises in the center of Moscow.
Police announced that all the people who are at present in the office detained. Sergei Mitrokhin, MP Ilya Ponomaryov, Irina Vihrova, representative of Russia’s Ombudsman, Lev Ponomaryov, head of the organisation and all the staff of the movement are detained. None of the detainees is let out of the office, including toilets.Read more »
Vladimir Lukin, Russia’s Human Rights Commissioner, is ready to restore his membership in the YABLOKO party, if he decides to return to politics. Ombudsman made such a statement at a press conference in Khanty-Mansiysk on June 19. Read more »
In the night from June 21 to June 22 the YABLOKO party will hold its annual event “1418 Candles for Each Day of the War” to commemorate the anniversary of Adolf Hitler’s attack on the Soviet Union. On June 11, YABLOKO’s Gender faction held a round table on “Women’s rights and opportunities. European experience and Russia’s problems” with Caecilia van Peski, representative of the Dutch Democratic party D66.
The Conference of the Moscow branch of YABLOKO nominated Sergei Mitrokhin to run in the Moscow mayoral elections. He was nominated unanimously be the delegates of the conference.
The YABLOKO party took part in the manifestation “For Your and Our Freedom!” which was held in Moscow on June 12, Russia Day. This action was held in support of Russian political activists enjailed after the demonstration of May 6, 2012. Read more »
Today YABLOKO activists and party leader Sergei Mitrokhin conducted a series of one person pickets against adoption of the bill on protection of religious feelings by the main entrance to the State Duma. The State Duma included examination of the bill in the second and third reading in its agenda.
YABLOKO held an action near the Representation of the Republic of Kalmykia in Moscow to honour the memory of Larissa Yudina, Editor-in-Chief of Sovietskaya Kalmykia newspaper and Chair of the Kalmykia branch of the YABLOKO party. She was murdered in July 1998 and YABLOKO still insists that the ex President of Kalmykia Kirsan Ilyumzhinov is involved in the crime. Read more »
The Parliament of the Kabardino-Balkaria has made changes to its regulations as regards the right of the parties that are not represented in the legislative body to participate in the plenary sessions. The changes were made in connection with a lawsuit by the YABLOKO party in the Supreme Court of the Republic. Read more »
YABLOKO held a mourning rally in memory of Larissa Yudina, Editor-in-Chief of Sovietskaya Kalmykia newspaper and Chair of the Kalmykia branch of the YABLOKO party, in Elista, capital of the of the Republic of Kalmykia. Larissa Yudina was murdered on June 7, 1998. The activists demanded from the President of Kalmykia to resume investigation of the murder and demanded from the law-enforcement agencies to find those who ordered the crime. The action in memory of the journalist took place in Moscow as well.
The Moscow authorities finally removed the fence which has surrounded the first historic beach Serebryany Bor (silver forest) for 8 years. The officials took measures only after YABLOKO’s leader Sergei Mitrokhin sawed the gates and several unites of the fence down with a wire cutter and an angle grinder.
