Yesterday the Pervouralsk City Duma elected director of pipe plant Alexei Dronov City Manager of Pervouralsk. The YABLOKO faction, after consultation with the voters, decided not to take part in the meeting and continue insisting on direct elections of the mayor. YABLOKO picketed the Federation Council against the change of the electoral law

YABLOKO municipal deputy conducted a one-person picket outside the Federation Council, the upper House of Parliament, against the new bill which allows to conduct the elections to the Moscow City Duma and the Legislative Assembly of St.Petersburg only in single-seat constituencies and breaks the equality of the constituent territories before the law.
The new law states that no less than 25 percent of deputies should be elected under the party-list proportional system in the regional parliaments. Moscow and St. Petersburg will be allowed to set the percentage themselves.

On October 30, the Day of Political Prisoners, YABLOKO conducted a picket near the house where Stalin’s victims were shot demanding from the authorities to save the house and open a memorial museum there. The action was strictly controlled by six policemen, one of them had an assault rifle.
