YABLOKO picketed the Federation Council against the change of the electoral law

YABLOKO municipal deputy conducted a one-person picket outside the Federation Council, the upper House of Parliament, against the new bill which allows to conduct the elections to the Moscow City Duma and the Legislative Assembly of St.Petersburg only in single-seat constituencies and breaks the equality of the constituent territories before the law.
The new law states that no less than 25 percent of deputies should be elected under the party-list proportional system in the regional parliaments. Moscow and St. Petersburg will be allowed to set the percentage themselves.

YABLOKO demanded to open a museum in the house where Stalin’s victims were shot

On October 30, the Day of Political Prisoners, YABLOKO conducted a picket near the house where Stalin’s victims were shot demanding from the authorities to save the house and open a memorial museum there. The action was strictly controlled by six policemen, one of them had an assault rifle.

YABLOKO’s Green Russia faction conducted pickets in support of the crew of the Arctic Sunrise and in defence of the Arctic in thirteen Russian cities: Arkhangelsk, Blagoveshchensk, Vladikavkaz, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Saint Petersburg, Sosnovy Bor (the Leningrad region), Sochi, Petrozavodsk, Chelyabinsk and Ulan-Ude on October 25-27. The pickets were conducted within the All-Russian campaign “Freedom to the Defenders of the Arctic!”. YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin and head of YABLOKO Green Russia faction Alexei Yablokov participated in the action in Moscow.

On October 22, Andrei Babushkin, member of the YABLOKO party and member of the Presidium of the Human Rights Council (HRC) under President, and Valery Borschyov, and member of YABLOKO’s Political Committee and head of the Public Monitoring Commission of Moscow, and experts took part in the panel discussion “Why Amnesty-2013 Should Be Conducted on a Broad Scale”. While the final text of the amnesty act to mark the 20th anniversary of the Russian Constitution is not submitted to the State Duma, human rights defenders say that it is important to explain why the amnesty act should include the maximum number of prisoners.

YABLOKO activist detained after protesting outside the State Duma

YABLOKO protested near the State Duma against the bill which will allow to conduct the elections to the Moscow City Duma and the Legislative Assembly of St.Petersburg only in single-seat constituencies. YABLOKO activist smashed a “crazy printer” which symbolised a large number of repressive bills adopted by the State Duma with a hammer. YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin participated in the action.
