Residents of the city protest against closure of the city library

On 13 March, Yabloko Chair Emilia Slabunova visited the city of Fryazino, the Moscow region, at the invitation of the director of the central city library.  Slabunova met with residents protesting against the eviction of the central city library from the premises the library had been taking since 1936. By court order, the library may find itself literally in the street due to the fact that the city authorities did not pay the owner for renting the building. In addition the city has no other premises similar to that occupied by the library, thus, eviction of the library means its closure, local residents say.

On Friday, 16 March, presidential candidate Grigory Yavlinsky will visit Chelyabinsk in the Urals, the seventh largest Russian city, where he will meet with voters. This trip will be final in his presidential campaign-2018.

Chelyabinsk will become the 20th city of Yavlinsky’s electoral tour. Since the summer of 2017, Grigory Yavlinsky visited 16 regions, met with thousands of people and covered distance of almost 40,000 kilometers by plane, train and car.

Today, on March 13, Badri Gazzati, an authorised representative of Grigory Yavlinsky campaign, Chairman of the Ossetian branch of Yabloko, and Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper “Osetiya. Svobodny Vzglyad” (Ossetia. A Free View), was attacked by Saslan Bestayev, an authorised representative of Vladimir Zhirinovsky (Zhyrinovsky is a presidential candidate from his parliamentary pro-governmental party LDPR). This happened after the televised debates at the GTRK Alania.

The headquarters of presidential candidate Grigory Yavlinsky will be located in the office of the Yabloko party at the address: Pyatnitskaya 31, bldg 2. The headquarters will open his doors to journalists on 18 March at 14:00 and will work until the end of the counting of votes on 19 March.

Police has detained Yabloko Chair Emilia Slabunova in Ostankino, Moscow, at the action dedicated to Mother’s Day. The action was organised by the Council of Municipal Deputies of the Ostankino district. The event was dedicated, among other things, to the residents’ protest against the construction of a giant observation wheel in the nature protection zone of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements (VDNKh), only 100 meters from the entrances of residential housing. Sergei Tsukasov, head of the Ostankino municipal district, invited Emilia Slabunova to the action.

Presidential candidate Grigory Yavlinsky and Yabloko are conducting the largest election campaign in the past 15 years. Such a statement was made by Nikolai Rybakov, head of Grigory Yavlinsky election headquarters, at a briefing today, on 9 March.

Rybakov voiced some figures that characterize the coverage of the audience and the geography of the campaign. Thus, during the campaign Grigory Yavlinsky visited 15 Russian cities – from St. Petersburg to Krasnoyarsk in Siberia covering a distance of more than 35,000 kilometers. Despite the tight schedule associated with participation in the televised debates, there will be planned visits to Yaroslavl and Chelyabinsk before the end of the race.

The total circulation of campaign printed materials distributed among citizens amount by now to 26,745,000 copies, including 3,685,000 copies of the booklet “Strong Economy Means Rich Russia!”, 11,720,000 copies of the “Presidential Newspaper” of Grigory Yavlinsky, as well as 9,880,000 copies of the newspaper prepared personally by Yavlinsky. It is expected that the final circulation will exceed 30 million copies. “This has not happened since the 1990s,” Rybakov stressed.

Moscow. 7 March. INTERFAX.RU – Depressurisation took place in an airplane where Grigory Yavlinsky, Yabloko leader and presidential candidate, was returning from Grozny to Moscow on Tuesday, said party spokesman Igor Yakovlev.

“They flew from Grozny to Moscow, and when they were about to reach the airport [in Moscow], the pilot announced depressurisation of the cabin, although they themselves did not feel it, but the problem was that the plane began to drop sharply, literally in a few minutes from a height of 10,000 meters to 4,000 – 5,000 meters,” Yakovlev told Interfax.

On 2 March, Yabloko’s Gender Faction conducted its conference. The faction reported on its work and elected its leaders. The conference was attended by delegates from 15 Russian regions.

Galina Mikhaleva, Chair of the Gender Faction, reported on the faction work since 2015, specially highlighting several fields of work: development of programmes for women that were alternative to government’s programmes, joint projects with partner women’s associations to combat violence against women, participation in conferences, roundtables (including international conferences), street actions and protection of the LGBT rights.

Today Grigory Yavlinsky flew to Grozny, Chechnya, to address the court in defense of Oyub Titiyev, head of the Chechen branch of the human rights society Memorial. Tityiev was accused of possession of drugs.

Previously, Yavlinsky as a candidate for the presidency of Russia asked the court to release Titiyev under his personal guarantee in accordance with Article 103 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Russia.

Grigory Yavlinsky spoke at the conference on gender equality

Russian presidential candidate Grigory Yavlinsky, speaking at the All-Russian conference “Gender Equality and the Future of Russia”, named three fundamental things forming the cultural code of the modern economy: freedom, creativity and equal opportunities.

The politician stressed that gender equality was an element of a civilised society: society can not be considered modern if it does not recognise equality between women and men.

“If society does not understand that equality between men and women is so fundamental that it predetermines all other relationships, then there arise problems with children, families, and it is impossible to build a modern economy in such a society,” Grigory Yavlinsky said.

Oleg Volkov, head of the South-West District of Moscow, announced today that construction of a 17-storey block of flats instead of a children’s playground in one of the yards in Kravchenko street was abolished.  Yesterday presidential candidate Grigory Yavlinsky and leader of the Moscow branch of Yabloko Sergei Mitrokhin participated in the residents’ rally against the construction.

Volkov also stated that he revoked the order for construction works in Kravchenko street and this plot of land will be transferred into the status of “communal land”.

On March 3, 2018, at about 22:00, unidentified persons broke with stones two windows in the bedroom of the house of Svetlana Vasilkova, deputy of the Assembly of Deputies of the Pustoshkinsky District from the Yabloko party.

She was in another room at the time of the attack and was not injured.

Svetlana Vasilkova was twice elected deputy of the district Assembly from Yabloko, and she also ran for the post of district head.

Vladimir Putin has announced a large-scale arms race in his Address to the Federal Assembly. He threatens the whole world with new nuclear missiles. It seems that Putin has confidence in the possibility of limited use of tactical nuclear weapons. It is impossible to imagine anything more dangerous and erroneous than that. Because it is enough to just start and it will immediately turn into a full-scale nuclear conflict. A couple of minutes and it will be impossible to stop it.

Putin’s policy has brought Russia close to the real threat of a great war. It can begin due to any accident and at any time.
