The Day of Russia will become a real holiday only when the country is freed from lawlessness, arbitrariness of the bureaucracy and the state’s lies

imageGrigory Yalvinsky FB post

The day of 12 June was first celebrated as Russia’s Independence Day.

This was strange for many people: from whom was this independence? In fact, by adopting the Declaration of Sovereignty on this day in 1990, Russia proclaimed its independence from the totalitarian communist rule and declared itself be a state where power belonged to a free people. As the country was turning into a state of bureaucrats (today there are almost 1.5 times more bureaucrats per capita in Russia than in a highly centralised USSR), and was more and more inheriting the lawlessness and arbitrariness of the Soviet system, the bureaucrats who got the power, decided it was they who were Russia. In fact, everything is vice versa. Russia means people living in our country, people whom these bureaucrats should serve – all of them without exception, up to top officials and the President. But we still do not have this, and therefore, the Day of Russia will become a real holiday only when the country is freed from lawlessness, arbitrariness of the bureaucracy and the state’s lies. In Memorail of Larissa Yudina, leader of YABLOKO branch in Kalmykia and Editor-in-Chief of the only oppositional paper in the Republic

Sergei Mitrokhin FB post of 07.06.2017:

Larissa Yudina, Editor-in-Chief of the Sovetskaya Kalmykia paper and leader of the regional YABLOKO branch in Kalmykia, was killed on this day 19 years ago. She was killed for having dared to write the truth about the corrupt regime of [then head of Kalmykia and now head of FIDE, the World Chess Association] Kirsan Ilyumzhinov in her paper. She was assassinated by his “legal adviser”, however, the person who had ordered that crime, as always, escaped responsibility. All these 19 years I have publicly expressed the version, that it was Ilyumzhinov [who did it]. And I will further voice it, until the court proves the opposite. WE WILL NOT FORGET IT AND WILL NOT FORGIVE IT!image
