Press Release, 17.06.2020
Albert Khusainov, Chairman of the Yabloko branch in Bashkiria, sent an appeal to the head of the region Radiy Khabirov. The leader of the regional branch of Yabloko calls the regional authorities to abolish a parade commemorating victory in the World War 2 and a procession of the Immortal Regiment in Ufa in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.
“Without going into a discussion about the significance of the celebration and the political component of this act of the authorities, I will only refer to the virus pandemic in Russia, including our Bashkiria. There are over half a million sick and over 7,000 deaths in Russia. Who wants more deaths in peacetime and suggests bringing people into contact with the infection? ” Albert Khusainov notes.
It should be noted that 13 cities have already canceled the parade, several more have postponed it to a later date. As of June 17, the number of residents of Bashkiria with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 is 4,670 people.
