Arthur Gaiduk, ambulance doctor and deputy of the Pskov City Duma, has won by-elections to the Pskov Regional Assembly of Deputies (the regional parliament) in single-mandate constituency No. 2, receiving over 40% of the vote. He left behind Igor Maximov, former vice-governor and candidate from the ruling United Russia party, who got 32% of votes.
This is the first victory of a candidate from Yabloko in a single-mandate constituency in the elections to the Pskov Regional Assembly of Deputies. Gaiduk became the only single-mandate candidate elected to the regional Assembly not from the United Russia party.
Yet, Yabloko in the Pskov Regional Assembly was represented by only one deputy – Lev Shlosberg, leader of the party’s regional branch.
In total, on a single voting day of September 8, 2019, the Yabloko party increased its representation in regional legislative assemblies by six deputies. Four candidates from the party were elected deputies of the Moscow City Duma, another one became a deputy of the Khabarovsk Legislative Duma in the Far East.
From now on Yabloko will be represented in the legislative assemblies of five regions: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Karelia, the Pskov region and the Khabarovsk Territory.
