YABLOKO activist was beaten during a one-person picket within sight of a policeman
Press Release, October 16, 2013
YABLOKO member, former candidate for the Kemerovo Regional Council deputy Yevgeny Artemyev was beaten during a one-person picket against the election fraud within sight of a policeman in Kemerovo on October 16.
Yevgeny Artemyev planned to hold a hunger strike because of unfair elections. This was the reason for a one-person picket with a poster that told about the breaking of Artemyev’s rights as a candidate at the elections. But the picket was sabotaged. A policeman came up to Yevgeny Artemyev and called a man out of uniform who used force against Artemyev. The incident was recorded by a video camera and the omission of the policeman can be seen.
After the incident Yevgeny Artemyev appealed to the prosecutor’s office and to the Investigative Committee and decided to have a medical supervision.
Evgeny Artemyev appealed to the prosecutor’s office and to the Investigative Committee earlier in connection with the falsifications at September 8 elections, but was denied in launching the criminal cases.
