Yeltsin
was an ill … tsar; Putin is a young tsarevich
Interview with Yabloko faction
coordinator Sergei Ivanenko. By Ekaterina Larina,
The Russia Journal Vol.3, No.15April 24-30, 2000,
Sergei Ivanenko is coordinator of the Yabloko faction
in the State Duma and right-hand-man to the party's
leader, Grigory Yavlinsky.
Ivanenko was a member of the Russian delegation
at the recent Council of Europe session that voted
to suspend Russia’s membership, but unlike the majority
of the delegation, he did not protest the council’s
decision. A subsequent resolution passed by the State
Duma lower house of parliament confirmed the delegation's
majority stance.
Sergei Ivanenko told The Russia Journal about the
Yabloko faction’s position on this issue, the faction’s
plans and his personal views on Russian politics.
RJ: As one of the leaders of the Russian delegation
to the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, how
do you view the Duma’s statement?

that this was Yabloko's best electoral campaign

Shortly before the presidential elections,
on March 23—25, the Agency for Regional Political
Studies (ARPI) carried out another routine sociological
survey. This gives us a chance to look at how reliable
these types of surveys are and ascertain what mood
voters were in as they went to the polls.
Putin
will strengthen the criminal nomenclatura system
Yabloko Rossiyi No 14(106)April 8, 2000. Interview
of Grigory Yavlinsky by Francois Bonnet, "Le Monde",
April 3, 2000
Francois Bonnet: Do you share the
opinion of the communists that numerous falsifications
occurred during the presidential elections on March
26, where Vladimir Putin already won in the first
round?
Grigory Yavlinsky: Probably, we have
also noted many strange incidents. Our real result
differs greatly from the official figures, as everyone
agrees. Voting was unfortunately rigged, as was
the case in 1993 and 1996.
