Representatives of the Maritime Territory branch of Yabloko and the "Salvation Committee of Maritime Territory" picketed the building of the regional Public Prosecutor's Office in Vladivostok.

The action began on Monday March 5, 2001, at 12 a.m., local time (05:00 Moscow Time). The participants of the picket demanded the resignations of the Public Prosecutor of the Territory Valeri Vasilenko and chairman of the state television and radio company "Vladivostok", Valeri Bakshin, and made speeches in support of the NTV television company.

"Vasilenko must resign!", "Replace the Public Prosecutor with teachers' and doctors' wages", "Putin! Criminals and not NTV journalists of the NTV should be wiped out! - these were some of the slogans at the picket.

Vasilenko who was returning to the Public Prosecutor's Office from court said in reference to the picket that "every citizens may express his opinion."
