YABLOKOs leader Sergei Mitrokhin visited Vyeselovly District
of the Rostov region within the framework of his visit to
the southern Russian region. He had a meeting with Eugeny
Tkachyov, Cossack chieftain (ataman) and other Cossacks.
The speakers in addition to modern problems also touched
upon the situation with Cossacks in the USSR, and Sergei Mitrokhin
promised to initiate on the state level a discussion of the
homicide of Cossacks in that period.

During the meeting the Cossacks decided to establish a local
YABLOKO branch. The branch will be headed by Elena Tkachyova.
Eugeny Tkachyov also proposed to create Cossacks faction
within YABLOKO.
According to Cossacks, YABLOKO is the only party acceptable
for them for cooperation: the policies of the ruling United
Russia is all lies and hypocrisy, communists were eliminating
Cossacks as a class during the Soviet period, the Just Russia
party is Rostov is headed by a switcher Mikhail Yemelyanov
who has already been a member of two different parties before
that.
