MOSCOW, July 3 (Itar-Tass) -- The YABLOKO party has called
for a single democratic list of candidates in the next Duma elections.
YABLOKO leader Grigory Yavlinsky
told journalists during a break in the party's congress on Saturday that
this would be one of his priorities for the near future. The party is
negotiating this issue with a broad range of organisations and parties,
he said.
"We are doing everything possible to ensure that we have a list
of united democrats in the next elections," Yavlinsky said. At the
same time, he noted that there could be no alliance with the
Union of Right-Wing Forces (SPS). In his view, one of YABLOKO's main mistakes
was that "the party did not distance itself from SPS energetically
and decisively".
However, Yavlinsky named former SPS leaders Boris Nemtsov and Irina
Khakamada among potential allies, as well as Vladimir Kara-Murza and Vladimir
Fyodotov.
Yavlinsky also noted that YABLOKO could not have anything in common
with parties that "have not distanced themselves from the Stalin-Leninist
system".
