Leader of the Bryansk branch of YABLOKO nominated to run in the gubernatorial elections

Andrei Ponomaryov, leader of the Bryansk branch of YABLOKO was nominated by the conference of the regional party branch to run in the gubernatorial elections due on October 14, 2012.

The next step for registration in the election campaign should be overcoming of a municipal filter: the nominees have to get support from municipal deputies and heads of municipal districts. According to the law adopted by the regional legislative assembly (Duma), the municipal filter amounts to a 7 per cent threshold in the Bryansk Region.

According to Ponomaryov, he can overcome the threashold. Also the present Governor of the region Nikolai Denin has assured all the candidates to the gubernatorial post that the administrative resource would not be used against them. Next week we will learn if it is true, when I begin collection of voters signatures in my support, noted Ponomaryov. The required signatures have to be collected by August 26.

The present Governor Nikolai Denin was nominated to run in the elections from the ruling United Russia party. Other candidates are Vadim Potomsky from the Communist Party, Vyacheslav Rudnikov from the Just Russia party and Mikhail Marchenko from LDPR.

Andrei Ponomaryov has been YABLOKO member since 1995. He has been head of the Bryansk branch of YABLOKO also since 1995. Ponomaryov has many times took posts in the ruling bodies of the party.

At present he is an artist of the Bryank Region Philharmonic and is also an artistic director of the STOZHARY group.
