The Council for Consolidation of Womens Movement in Russia supported YABLOKOs candidates at regional elections in the Chelyabinsk region

Yesterday, on September 28, a meeting of the Council for Consolidation of Women's Movement in Russia took place in Moscow. Galina Mikhalyova, Chair of YABLOKOs Gender faction and Co-Chair of the Council, proposed a decision approved by the Council to support YABLOKOs candidates at regional elections in the Chelyabinsk region.

It was noted that YABLOKOs list in the Chelyabinsk region was topped by women: Natalia Mironova, a well-known environmentalist, and Fatima Kobzhasarova, Chair of women's rights movement Fatihha. The key slogans of the party campaign in the Chelyabinsk region are "Politics Is Women's Business!" and "For Women! For Protection of Environment! For YABLOKO!

The decisions adopted by the Council included the work plan until the end of the year (including a number of international, interregional and regional conferences to be conducted in October - in Pskov and in Arkhangelsk and in November - in Moscow); events within the framework of the programme "Women on the Labor Market" in Tula, Perm and Saratov, the first International Women's Festival in Moscow, including sessions of the Women's Parliament and the Women's Government.

In addition, the Council adopted a memorandum "On the general problems of the women's movement on the threashold of elections", which emphasizes a non-party nature of the women's movement and their common tasks for implementation of Article 19 of the Constitution of Russia on equal rights and opportunities for women.
