In the night from June 21 to June 22 (on the memory date when
Hitler invaded the USSR) YABLOKO’s activists will hold an
action “1,418 candles for each day of war” to commemorate
the 69th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet
Union of 1941-1945.
The activists will light 1,418 candles symbolizing the days
of war by the monument to the Muscovites-defenders of Moscow.
The action will start at 10:30 p.m. YABLOKO’s leaders will
also participate in the action.
DVD disks with a film by Marlen Khutsiyev “The People of
1941” will be distributed during the action. The renown director
made this film at YABLOKO’s support.
In St.Petersburg YABLOKO’s activists will light candles by
the so-called Blockade Ice-Hole where the citizens took water
from during the city blockade (Fontanka embankment 21) on
June 22 at 4 a.m.
Traditional YABLOKO’s action “1,418 candles for each day of
war” has been taking place in Moscow and St.Petersburg for
several years already.
