Vassily Potapov, leader of the Miass branch of YABLOKO,
again won the election race to the assembly of the Miass
city district. At the first meeting of the new assembly
Potapov was unanimously elected chair of the Commission
on Regulations, Ethics and Public Relations.
“My first deputy term was a kind of credit of trust, by
my second term I regard as support of my views as regards
organisation of city governing and my initiatives on making
the district more comfortable,” Potapov said. “However,
it is a pity that my colleague Viktor Strutz did not manage
to win in his electoral district. It would be more difficult
for me to find support in the assembly without his participation.”
The elections to the assembly demonstrated that more of
the previous deputies corps did not managed to pass to the
assembly, representatives from CPRF and LDPR also did not
manage to win the race. United Russia, despite broad use
of their administrative resource and multiple violations
also did not manage to get the majority of the votes. Only
10 out of 26 candidates from this party passed to the assembly.
Members of the Youth YABKLOKO branch in the Chelyabinsk
region also participated in the elections. However, they
regard their performance as unsatisfactory in spite of the
fact that running very cheap campaigns in Kopeisk, Zlatoust
and Miass they obtained from 7 to 20 per cent of the votes,
which was higher than the barrier to the federal parliaments.
But this would not suffice to win in the single-mandate
districts. The Youth YABLOKO branch will hold a meeting
soon so that to develop their further strategy.
