Deputy Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation (the Yabloko faction) Vladimir Lukin thinks that the Russian military forces should not directly participate in the military operations of the US in Afghanistan.

According to Lukin, "we should act in such a way, so that the Afghans themselves resolve the problems in their country, we should not do this work on their behalf."

The action against Afghanistan should not be confused with the fight against terrorism in general, we should get ready for a patient, serious and far from dry score in this fight, added Lukin in an interview with the Ekho Moskvia radio station on Sunday, October 7, 2001.
