On April 4, 2001 at a plenary meeting of the State Duma, Grigory Yavlinsky proposed on behalf of the Yabloko faction that the Duma put on the agenda consideration of a draft resolution of the chamber on the situation surrounding NTV.

“We turn to you and make an urgent request to support our proposals. This refers to all the factions and all the deputies, otherwise we will soon be deprived of a possibility to express opinions on the political positions of our parties, as well as on the situation in the country,” said the leader of Yabloko. “I think that it is the duty of the State Duma to support such a resolution of the chamber,” added Yavlinsky.

“Now the deputies of the State Duma (Ed. members of the Yabloko faction) are there (Ed. in the NTV office). All the deputies of the State Duma who would like to avert the acts of force against this company are invited there,” added Yavlinsky.
